Cyber Newsletter: 06-05-2009 Annual Clean-Up Day: Our clean up day is scheduled for this Saturday 6-6-09 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. We will hold it rain or shine as we have plenty of indoor work to do on targets and the indoor range and will work outside as weather permits. Lunch of sloppy Joes, potato salad and beans will be provided along with reduced prices on adult beverages. If you have a cordless drill, tree limb lopper, yard trimmer or shovel it would be helpful if you could bring them along. Broadhead League: Our summer broadhead league will begin on Thursday July 16 and run for 7 weeks ending with a fish fry night on Thursday 8-28. (6 paid 1 free week; $6.00 per week for members and $8.00 for non-members) Remember you can post a score anytime up to Tuesday night if you can't make it the on Thursday night; Two archer teams. We would sure like to see participants in this league increase. It is a great time, realistic practice leading into the season and food is available after shooting on Thursdays. 3D Targets: Many of you have taken advantage of the league 3D targets that are left out on the range. I know it is great to be able to get in some realistic practice but the targets are really taking a beating. We just approved spending $900.00 to buy more 3D target patching material. We are asking that when you shoot a 3D round you donate a dollar or two to help defer the coast of repairs. Money can be put into the green tube by the indoor range or we may have an outdoor money box after the cleanup day by the first ladder stand. Tournaments: Don't forget to mark your calendars: Big Three 3D Tournament: we are the first leg this year on July 11 and 12. Vortex Shoot: This is a new one day tournament on Saturday 8-22 starting at 7:00 am co-sponsored by Vortex optics. It will combine F.I.T.A. (field) and 3D targets. It should be a blast. Be among the first 100 to register and receive a free Team Vortex T-shirt. Register at www.blackhawkbowhunters.com or vortexstaff@vortexoptics.com or call 800-426-0048 Ext. # 304 Pre-registration

Cyber Newsletter: 04-09-2009 Dear Cyberhawks; Just a few updates and reminders; This is going out only to the registered 2009 members so if you know someone who has not 're-upped' please pass the pertinent info on (and remind them to submit a membership application). Spring Conservation Congress Hearings: The spring hearings are scheduled for Monday 4-13 starting at 7:00 pm at the Middleton High School Performing Arts Center at 2100 Bristol St. It used to be at the Alliance Energy Center so please spread the word to non-Cyberhawks. There are a number of important questions that relate to hunting and bow hunting: 1. Question 57: would replace Earn-A-Buck by restricting buck harvest to the opening weekend of a season only and perhaps the two week rut. So the majority of bow season and gun season would be antler-less only. 2. Question 50: Seeks to end bow hunting at Brunet Island State Park. 3. Question 59 & 62: Increase info collected on deer registration stubs including buck fawn harvest numbers. 4. Question 66: Allows bow hunting during the 9-day gun season like we have in CWD-land. 5. Question: 78: Prohibits legislators from enacting wildlife management laws without public hearings. 6. Question 81: Increase youth hunting to allow anyone turning twelve during the season to hunt rather than waiting a full year. April BH tournament Optional Mac Qualifier: Blackhawk's next tournament is an outdoor 3D shoot that can be used as a Midwest Archery Championship qualifier. We need workers for am and pm shifts both days. If you can help out and need hours please contact Mike DeLapp at: 608 267-0230 or mike.delapp@dwd.wisconsin.gov Blackhawk Raffle: There is a money raffle in the works to help raise funds to purchase 3D targets. Our current supply although recently improved is not up to standards for the long haul and several dedicated members are working to rectify the problem. Details are being finalized but in the mean time be thinking of possible supporters you can ask to buy tickets. 3D tournaments are everywhere and we need to continually put out quality targets to be competitive to get shooter numbers up to help support the club financially. Details to follow. Spring 3D League to Begin: Once again Blackhawk will hold a 3D league starting on Thursday May 14 that will run for 8 weeks. The actual shoot night is Thursday when you can choose to strap on the 'ole' food bag and tell some tall tales after slinging shafts but if you can't make it that night the course will remain set until at least Tuesday of the following week to allow flexibility of when you post a score. Signup sheets will be posted on the bulletin board at the clubhouse for the two archer teams or just come on out the first night and join the fun. It really is a blast so why not participate and sign up a friend or two to boot. Because the targets will be left out we ask that anyone shooting the 3D targets other than for the league donate $1.00 to help pay for targets and repairs. Blackhawk Supporter Signs: The signs displayed at the club are to reward the sponsors for their support of Blackhawk. We have had several of them removed recently. Please leave them alone so we can show these companies we appreciate them. Vortex Sponsored Shoot: A one-day tournament is being planned for Saturday August 22. It will be a combination field archery and 3D shoot. Our Vortex sponsor is donating some very exclusive prizes for both adult and youth shooters and we both hope this turns out to be a big annual event. So mark your calendars and details will follow. Membership Push: We're not sure why but our membership numbers are down from 2008. Possibly the slow economy is having an affect here as elsewhere. So if you know someone who has not re-upped or others who you can recruit to join please do so. There are not many clubs with a 24-7 access, with both indoor and outdoor facilities. So please promote the club whenever and wherever you can! National Rifle Association Banquet: The National Rifle Association will be sponsoring friends of NRA banquet on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 5:00 PM at Rex's Inn Keeper HWY 113 N. Waunakee, WI 53597. Live Auction - Silent Auctions, Games - Special Drawings and many Limited Edition Firearms and Items will be available. Individual Dinner Tickets: $50 To purchase tickets, visit www.friendsofnra.org/WI What is the Friends of NRA? Friends of NRA is an exciting grassroots fund-raising program that fosters community involvement, raises money and gives 100% of the net proceeds to qualified local, state, and national programs. Thanks to dedicated individuals across America, Friends of NRA is making a difference. Working with NRA's Field Staff, thousands of volunteers nationwide are participating in the program by organizing and planning events in their communities. Where do the proceeds go? 100% of all net proceeds benefit The NRA Foundation, funding projects within the state where the money was raised and similar projects with a national scope such as NRA Eddie Eagle, NRA Women on Target, NRA Youth Sports Camps and many more. Friends of NRA committee volunteers are appointed to a State Fund Committee and make recommendations for local grant funding. Deer Management Unit Changes: The DNR is thinking of reorganizing deer management units, consolidating them into much larger areas. For more information and to complete an opinion poll and / or leave a comment go to: www.widmu.org Help Blackhawk Keep Energy Costs Down: Lets all work to be aware to turn off all lights and the stereo when we leave the clubhouse. I've recently found bathroom and closet lights on when I arrived and even the stereo playing on one occasion. And please LOCK THE GATE when you leave and make sure the clubhouse door has closed tightly and locked if no one else is there! All for now. Good luck chasing 'Tom' and if you choose to use a bow ... may a gentle breeze be always in your face and the flight of your arrow true. Jamie Zahalka
